He always wanted to be an artist and "teaching artist," (that's a real thing - my sister is "teaching artist" practicing theater and music (voice and violin) in NYC) and though he went into industry (injection mold making) applying his artistic skill to create in metal, as a profession to support his family, he held tight to producing sculpture and enriching lives through art.ĭig even more deeper, and you find his wife, Miki, a dancer, and ballet teacher also produced many recognized prima ballerinas in exceptional companies such as Houston Ballet, Miami Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet companies, among others. If you dig deeper, you find that Papa Joe came from artist parents. You can see what is for sale here: A few pieces interest me. ![]() His currently for-sale work is available at the Phillips Gallery in Salt Lake City. If you haven't visited the site, it's a testament to the diversity and creativity that exists here - and, perhaps, stimulated by our love for great audio through Carver. I kept the link open on my desktop to today, when I had time to spend going through it in detail. I hope I'm doing this right but I'm really happy to have found a group who know so much about this stuff and I'm sure are just as passionate about hi-fi and Carver in particular. The tfm35 feeds a pair of Klipsch piano rf8000 loudspeakers through home-assembled bi-wired 14AWG OFC speaker cables with locking bananas. I expect it to be my reference solid state amp for the rest of my life. It was serviced within the last few years and all issues were fixed then so not sure about this one.Īfter it fires up properly, which it usually does, wow! Such a beautiful, smooth, warmish-neutral, POWERFUL amp. From a "cold" start it may or may not go into protect mode for several cycles and then will randomly clear and the amp is good to go. The Tfm35 seems to be having a protection circuit issue. Running a Rega P1 upgraded with Nagaoka Mp110 and 12mm glass platter to the phono input and an Eversolo Z6 DAC into the CD input for DSD, MQA and hi res PCM. ![]() I figure it needs to be recapped but don't know if it's worth what it may cost. The CT6 has a very dim display and the hologram output drops to a very low level when engaged. Each component seems to have a couple of quirks that probably need to be serviced but 99% of the time everything is functioning correctly and sounds incredible. These belonged to my dad and I'm really excited to have equipment I grew up listening to and know that it has such cherished heritage. Just came into possession of a Tfm35 and CT6 which are replacing my Sherwood S8910. It can serve to be a very fine unit for a long time and because the faceplate and buttons are in such great shape, it will look great too! The RCA jacks are also still in excellent condition. The C-1 is in excellent condition (it's just dirty, not flaking or scratched on the buttons or faceplate). She has no use for it and 'doesn't know how to use it'. (yes, I was a troll) He was very good with a welder.not so good with a soldering iron.Īnyway, he was a super guy and was always very supportive of the site. I will never forget the time he tried to repair a Carver M1.0t and the back and forth between him and RichP, and some of me too! He was a real riot. I'm sorry to inform you that 'Papajoe' Joe Casalino has passed away.
